The “Geneva Trade & Development Forum” is a conference that took place in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in September 2008. The event has brought together representatives of the marketplace, politicians, and delegates of several NGOs, in order to discuss frankly and openly the possibility of promoting the economy of developing countries. According to the principles of the forum, humanitarian help does not provide a sufficient support. On the contrary, it contributes to the impoverishment and to the dependence of these countries as far as raw materials are concerned. Local sustainable projects for the self-sufficiency of small communities were on the schedule. My clients for this visual communication project asked me to create something suitable for a public specialized in economics and politics. To reinforce the image of the forum as a place for debate and concrete action, I chose photographic documentation linked to everyday events in the news.

The shell-shaped logo that identifies the oil company alludes to the drilling stations that extract oil from the oceans. The red and yellow colors recall the combustion process. The synthesized product has lost all signs of its natural origin. The new logo is based on the Fibonacci series, a mathematical succession of numbers which is intrinsically present in the growth process of certain shells, as well as in the human body evident in the growth of bones. The colors of the logo optimistically suggest an evolution towards greener energy policies for the company.

The society Sinergi of Lausanne has responded to an invitation to tender by the prince of Bahrain in February 2008 for the Olympic Games in Pekin. As designer for Sinergi, I have proposed a logo embodying tradition, with the tree of life, symbol of the island, and the contemporary age, with the modern towers of the capital city.
